Once it mutates to higher levels of Tough, it can be pretty strong against champions -- especially range champions. Gaining Leap 3 also allows it to catch up to champions attempting to retreat, or champions which are a little further away.

The main issue is attempting to build him up while keeping him alive. It generally works pretty well.
